Horizontal Electrostatic Oiler

TRIOA electrostatic oilers provide a better way to oil steel strip for rust protection, lubrication, or stamping. Most existing methods are ineffective and cause oil handling headaches. Mechanical methods of oil deposition (rolling, dripping, pumping, blade wiping) as well as most semi-electrostatic methods are imprecise and require over-oiling to ensure total strip coverage. This leads to high costs of oil removal, disposal coil handling problems and safety/housekeeping problems from runoff of excess applied oil both for you and your customers. 

TRIOA electrostatic oilers deliver the most uniform targeting and control of oiling possible. Strip coverage is uniform and typically controllable within +/-10mg/ft sq. With this degree of uniformtiy, 50mg oil/ft2 (or less) is sufficient to provide complete coverage against rusting.

Oil Characteristics - System can accommodate virtually all non-water based fluids used in this application. Viscosity: 1-2000cps, Resistivity: 107-1010 ohm-cm.  

Typical Line Speeds - Up to 4000 fpm in existing installations, higher speeds are possible.  

Coil Width - From 6"-84" in existing installations.  

Typical Deposition - Less than 50 mg/ft2/side is all that is necessary for complete coverage.  

Deposition Control - Select desired coating weight across a range of more than 100: 1.  

Installation - Units are freestanding, ready for operation after connecting utilities. Compact design fits into most lines without modification to existing equipment.  

Positioning System - Spray header can move on and off line via a variety of retraction mechanisms.  

Start Up - Assisted by TDC engineers and designers who remain on-site through successful start-up and operation.  

Maintenance - Maintenance requirements are generally minimal, stemming from the system's elegant, low-energy design and extensive industry testing and operation.  

Power - 480/120 VAC, (current depends on the size of the oiler needed).   


System Subassemblies 

Spray Header Assembly - Consists of multiple 3" or 6" nozzles, number is determined by maximum width strip to be processed. Nozzles can be deactivated to allow effective oiling of a full range of strip widths. The nozzle is designed to pass any particulates in the fluid to prevent clogging.  

Oil Reservoir System - Sized according to the desired deposition thickness, strip width, and line speed. The oil level is precisely monitored and is automaticaly filled at low levels from the customers bulk supply.  

High Voltage Power Supply - Low-amperage source, typically operated at 25-40KV, is used to power electrostatic nozzle.  

Control System - Allen-Bradley PLC (or other as specified) controls all functions. Control and instrumentation can be located on coater assembly or remotely.
